What is HETAS?

At N.E. Stoves, we are a HETAS registered supplier. But what is HETAS, and why is it so important that we are registered with them? 

HETAS stands for Heating Equipment and Testing Approval Scheme. It is a national organisation that works to ensure consumer safety, and wider public interest in safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible use of biomass and other solid fuels. We are incredibly proud to be registered with HETAS, and to ensure that our customers know just how much value our certification holds, we want to let you know a little bit more about what it means. 

HETAS are a national organisation involved in research, registration, and advising businesses. They provide evidence that influences national standards for appliance fuels and installations. HETAS approve training centres for people such as ourselves, and register fully trained installers, engineers, and chimney sweeps who meet their stringent requirements. They also provide up-to-date advice to businesses, consumers, and regulators, and are always researching options to improve services throughout the sector.

N.E. Stoves is an approved HETAS supplier, as well as the whole team being HETAS approved installers. This is a mark of quality, and you can be assured that when you make a purchase with N.E. Stoves, that all our staff are knowledgeable in the products that we sell as well as the installation process. 

All appliances we supply are completely safe, legal, and will provide the appropriate amount of output to heat your home safely. When we install a stove in your home, you’ll receive a certificate of compliance, and a copy will also be sent to the local authority. This important document demonstrates that work has been completed legally by a registered business, and has been carried out in accordance with building regulations. This means you can be safe in the knowledge that you are receiving a top quality product that has been installed using the highest standards of practise. 

Our HETAS certification is reviewed annually, and we recently received a visit and assessment to evaluate our install and safety procedures. N.E. Stoves’ lead installer, James, passed his annual review with flying colours, and we expect nothing less from the whole team here. 

As registered installers, we have all been trained and approved to UKAS standards; this is the the UK’s National Accreditation Body, who determine the technical competence of organisations offering testing, calibration, and certification services

We’re also approved retailers. This scheme aims to increase safety, and promote the reputation of top quality retailers such as ourselves. You can find us listed on the HETAS website.
